In a significant development for Pakistan’s aviation industry, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the revival of its London flights after a gap of six years. This long-awaited decision will reestablish direct air links between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
PIA confirmed that its London operations will resume, restoring an important international route that had been inactive since 2020.
According to an official statement, direct flights from Islamabad to London will commence on March 29, 2026, followed by flights from Lahore starting on March 30.
This step is being regarded as a major achievement for the national carrier.
Flight schedule details
At the initial stage, PIA will operate three weekly non-stop flights from Islamabad to London, along with one weekly flight from Lahore. With these additions, the airline’s total weekly services to the UK will rise to seven.
The airline will deploy Boeing 777 aircraft on these routes, offering passengers a comfortable long-haul travel experience.
PIA highlighted that these direct flights will make travel quicker and more convenient for passengers flying to the UK, reducing overall journey time and enhancing passenger convenience. Bookings for these flights are already open, enabling travelers to make advance arrangements.
Expanding international reach
A spokesperson for PIA described the resumption of London services as a key move toward strengthening the airline’s international network.
Before operations were halted in 2020, PIA was running up to ten weekly flights to London. The airline now aims to gradually increase flight frequency in the coming period.
The London route has historical importance for PIA, as it was one of its earliest international destinations. The airline first began flying to London in 1955, making it a longstanding and vital part of its network.
The restart of flights to London is being seen as encouraging news for Pakistan, signaling efforts to revive international routes and enhance the airline’s global presence.
With direct services restored, passengers can once again enjoy smoother and faster travel between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
