US President Donald Trump shared a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, featuring Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his proposal for Pakistan to host talks aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed that Pakistan is ready to facilitate discussions if both the United States and Iran agree, calling it a matter of national pride.
He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to supporting ongoing regional and international peace initiatives and reiterated the country’s willingness to host constructive and impactful negotiations. The statement also mentioned US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The Pakistani Foreign Office called on the media to refrain from speculation and wait for formal statements. Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi emphasized that Pakistan has consistently been willing to back diplomatic initiatives and negotiations aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region.
